Purepoint Uranium Group Inc. Appoints Chairman and Additional Board Member

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 22, 2006) - Purepoint Uranium Group Inc. (TSX VENTURE:PTU) is pleased to announce the addition to its board of directors of Scott Frostad BSc, MASc, Pgeo. Scott also serves as Purepoint's Vice President of Exploration.

Scott's experience in the mining industry spans more than two decades. His background in mineral exploration includes senior positions with renowned mining companies such as Lac Minerals, Teck and Placer Dome. Prior to joining Purepoint as Vice-President of Exploration earlier this year, Scott was Environmental Specialist for Areva Resources Canada Inc. and managed environmental issues at both the Cluff Lake and McClean Lake Uranium Mines in Northern Saskatchewan.

Purepoint is also pleased to announce that Christopher Rich has accepted an appointment to Chairman of the Board. Chris is a veteran business builder who has served on the Board of Purepoint since its inception. Throughout his career, he has acquired, transformed and successfully managed numerous mid-sized Canadian based companies.

The company also announces the resignation of Peter Hooper from the Board. Peter has advised the board that the demands of a number of his other active exploration engagements and the considerable travel schedule required by those engagements make it difficult for him to continue to make a meaningful contribution to Purepoint's aggressive exploration plans. Peter has been an invaluable source of experience and technical guidance to the Board for over eighteen months and Purepoint thanks him for his assistance and contribution.

Purepoint Uranium Group Inc. is focused on the precision exploration of seven 100% owned multiple target properties in the Canadian Athabasca Basin. Established in the Basin well before the current resurgence in uranium, Purepoint is actively advancing that large portfolio of drill targets in the world's richest uranium region.
