PVBLIC Foundation Calling Upon Media Influencers, Journalists, & Bloggers to Join the WSIS+10 High Level General Assembly Meeting 'Digital Media Zone' at the United Nations

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 9, 2015) - PVBLIC Foundation will host a Digital Media Zone event at the United Nations December 15-16th, inviting bloggers and other media representatives to engage in and facilitate discussion as the UN General Assembly convenes its 10-year review on the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

The WSIS +10 meeting will host high-level representatives from governments, civil society, and the private sector, focused on the global effort for sustainable development by harnessing the power of information and communication technology (ICT). WSIS+10 will review the progress made in the past decade and address gaps and challenges, such as bridging the digital divide, and areas of future action towards a people-centered, inclusive, and development-oriented information society. At this meeting, the General Assembly will also review the Internet Governance Forum, and an inter-governmental agreed outcome document is expected to be adopted.

During the two-day meeting, PVBLIC will be hosting a Digital Media Zone (DMZ) in parallel to the high-level meetings at the United Nations, where media influencers, bloggers, and journalists from around the world will engage in active discussions related to ICT for development and WSIS +10. Attendees will have access to an exclusive lounge equipped with WiFi, workspaces, a live stream of the meetings, and a space for bloggers and journalists to host interviews and discussions with representatives and speakers involved in the high-level meeting.

Overall, the event will provide media influencers and bloggers a unique opportunity to report live on this remarkable occasion and lead conversations relevant to their field and expertise, such as matters involving freedom of speech, cyber security, and universal access to information technology.

PVBLIC Co-Founder and Chairman, Sergio Fernández de Córdova, emphasized the importance of WSIS+10 stating, "The focus on information and communication technology is vital in terms of global connectedness, a critical component in working towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. We want to gather influential media voices and experts within our Digital Media Zone to help educate and engage the global audience."

Official partners for the DMZ event include Univision, Fusion, Social Media Week, Mosh, the Toolbox, Nolcha and Go Raw.
