PWGSC: Canada's New Government Announces $718,839 Contract Awarded to Refurbish Riding Mountain National Park

MACGREGOR, MANITOBA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 21, 2006) - A $718,839 competitive contract has been awarded to Mac's Rentals (1986) Ltd., of MacGregor, Manitoba, to refurbish Riding Mountain National Park in Wasagaming, Manitoba. Awarded on behalf of Parks Canada, the work will be completed by end of March 2007.

The announcement was made today by Brian Pallister, Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar, on behalf of the Honourable Michael M Fortier, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

"Today's announcement demonstrates that the federal bidding process is accessible and fair to all companies and regions across the country," said Mr. Pallister. "This is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring value for the Canadian taxpayer."

Work under this project comprises the furnishing of all labour, materials, equipment and supervision required for general construction of force mains, gravity sewer, collection manhole, encasement pipe under creek, and related work at Riding Mountain National Park.

"The Parks are hereby dedicated to the people of Canada for their benefit, education and enjoyment... and shall be maintained and made use of so as to leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of the future generations," National Parks Act, 1930.
