Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners Renews Contract With Prometric

Healthcare Licensing Exams Grow Nine-Fold in Five Years

DOHA, QATAR--(Marketwired - Jun 8, 2015) -  Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) has agreed to a contract renewal with Prometric for the administration of healthcare licensing exams in the areas of General scope Physician, General scope Dentist, Emergency Medical Tech, Pharmacy, Midwifery, General scope Nurse, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Lab Tech, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene and Dental Lab Tech.

"We work very closely with Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners to ensure the trust and validity of medical licenses in Qatar," said Garrett Sherry, Prometric Vice President and General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Asia. "Our partnership has helped QCHP grow its program and administer more than 25,000 exams over that time. We look forward to building on our success to date and remain fully committed to the highest quality of testing services on behalf of QCHP."

QCHP first contracted with Prometric in 2010 to fully innovate the format of its exams to computer-based testing from paper-based. The new contract will extend through 2017. QCHP medical exam administration has grown by nearly nine times its test volume from 2010 to 2014, with healthcare licensing candidates now having greater access to QCHP's exams in the region and globally.

The Medical Licensing Department was established in 2002 as department of the Ministry of Health. Further to that, the Emiri Decree No.7 was declared in March 2013, which provided for the establishment of QCHP, an independent council rather than being a department within the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Health, as the sole authority responsible for regulating all healthcare practitioners working in government and private healthcare sectors and has helped improve the standards for healthcare practitioners in the state of Qatar, as well as formulate proper standards and criteria for practicing and developing healthcare professions.
