Quad Cities Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins Faculty for Innovative Hand Surgery Program

DAVENPORT, IA--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2014) - Dr. Tyson Cobb, an orthopaedic specialist in Davenport, was recently invited to lecture at an intensive surgical program hosted by the Italian Society for Surgery of the Hand (SICM). The three-day program is scheduled to occur December 11th through the 13th in Arezzo, Italy, and the curriculum will feature a seminar by Dr. Cobb on minimally invasive arthroscopic hand surgery. In addition to Dr. Cobb, SICM invited 14 other leading hand surgeons from around the world who will provide instruction and guidance throughout the special session.

During the program, the faculty lecturers will discuss numerous innovative techniques to address common injuries and conditions associated with the bones, ligaments, and tendons of the hand. Dr. Cobb's course will focus on arthroscopic surgery of the small joints of the hand. The session will include both a lecture portion and a participation component, wherein Dr. Cobb will provide guidance while surgeons practice the procedure on cadaveric specimens.

Dr. Cobb reveals he is excited to teach the course on minimally invasive surgical techniques of the hand, as he hopes to assist other surgeons in their desire to provide the best quality and most effective care to their patients. Though primarily attended by hand surgeons, he says other orthopaedic physicians, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, and sports medicine providers may also attend, providing him a singular opportunity to share ideas with a broad array of medical professionals.

As Director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center at Orthopaedic Specialists, Dr. Cobb has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques of the shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist. After earning his medical degree from the Texas Tech School of Medicine, he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery and his Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Mayo Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He then returned to Texas to complete a Fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular surgery at the University of Texas.
