Quad Cities Orthopaedic Surgeon Reveals Latest Thumb Arthritis Treatment at International Congress

DAVENPORT, IA--(Marketwired - Jul 14, 2015) - Every year the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) meets in a major international city to discuss the latest advances in musculoskeletal and joint treatment. In May 2015, thousands of orthopaedic specialists convened in Prague, Czech Republic, to attend the congress. Dr. Tyson Cobb, a leading orthopaedic surgeon in the Quad Cities area, was asked by the organization's sponsors to give a lecture on his minimally-invasive surgical technique for thumb basal joint arthritis. This condition occurs when the cartilage in the base of the thumb wears away, causing discomfort and reduced function.

At the symposium, Dr. Cobb presented his findings on arthroscopic resection arthroplasty, a less invasive approach to treating arthritis affecting the basal joint of the thumb. He recently published his research in the Journal of Hand Surgery.
