Quad Cities Orthopaedic Surgeon to Speak at International Wrist Arthroscopy Course

DAVENPORT, IA--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2014) - Orthopaedic Specialists is pleased to announce Dr. Tyson Cobb, an orthopaedic surgeon at the practice, has been invited to speak at the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society (EWAS) Course to be held in Los Angeles this November. The EWAS course is designed to teach U.S. surgeons new advanced techniques in wrist surgery. EWAS has invited 20 leaders in wrist surgery from around the world to teach this course -- 10 experts from the U.S. and 10 experts from Europe and Asia.

In his lecture, titled "Arthroscopic Resection Arthroplasty," Dr. Cobb will be teaching on a new, minimally invasive technique that he developed for wrist arthritis. He explains that a major benefit of this new treatment is that it does not require a large incision like traditional methods of surgery typically require. Resulting from this advancement, Dr. Cobb reveals that patients are able to return to work sooner with less pain and less scarring during their recovery.

As noted in his blog post, "Dr. Cobb to Present on Minimally Invasive Wrist Arthritis Treatment," attendees of the two-day course will be primarily composed of orthopedic surgeons wanting to learn new operative skills for wrist-related problems. The first day will be devoted to presentations and discussions, while the second day will be a hands-on cadaver lab where participants will learn the latest arthroscopic and open techniques for wrist repair.
