Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products -- Already a Winner at the 2012 London Olympics Aquatics Center

READING, PA--(Marketwire - Aug 3, 2012) - Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products' UK team developed and manufactured the innovative new pool deck grating for the London 2012 Olympic Games Aquatics Center. The grating provides the cover for the front end of the filtration system and substantially increases the return rate of water in all three major Olympic swimming pools. 

As the competition in the London 2012 Olympic Games continues, Quadrant is already a proud winner, having been chosen to manufacture and supply the deck pool grating for the Olympic Aquatics Center. The aquatics venue was designed by acclaimed international architect Zaha Hadid, and will be hosting swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and the swimming element of the Modern Pentathlon. The structure features a spectacular wave-like roof that is 160 m long and 80 m wide, giving it a longer single span than Terminal 5 at London Heathrow Airport! Over 3600 construction workers and more than 370 businesses contributed to make this engineering and design feat a reality.

Quadrant's own UK team competed for and won the contract to design, manufacture, and supply the deck pool grating and channel rail system. Quadrant worked alongside engineers, architects, and construction companies to manufacture and supply the deck pool grating around all three major pools and one circular plunge pool. The grating provides the cover for the front end of the filtration system and is visible around the main competition pool, diving pool, training pool, and plunge pool. Designed specifically for this project, the grating had to meet stringent guidelines for strength, appearance, and durability. Our UK team put their heads together and devised an innovative new system that allowed for a 31% return rate of water, smashing the minimum return rate requirements of 25%.
