READING, PA--(Marketwired - Mar 20, 2013) - Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products, the global leader of machinable plastics, will join forces with MediTECH, the leading supplier of medical grade UHMW-PE to the orthopaedic implant industry, at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting (AAOS) 2013 on March 19-23, 2013.
Quadrant and MediTECH will display their industry-leading array of advanced polymer materials for medicine at AAOS 2013 on March 19-23 in Chicago, IL, the largest annual orthopaedic event in the world. Quadrant will be presenting their industry-acclaimed Life Science Grade (LSG) biocompatible products. Quadrant's LSG products increase security and reduce time to market while increasing production speed and lowering costs. All LSG products are supplied with certification-confirming USP Class VI and ISO 10993 compliance allowing for expedited medical device clearance. MediTECH will feature Chirulen® and Extrulen™ products for medical applications. These products offer rapid healing properties and have become the materials of choice for articulating surfaces, helping restore a higher quality of life to millions of patients worldwide.
According to MediTECH Global Technology Manager, Lou Matrisciano, "Quadrant has a well-established reputation in the development, innovation, manufacturing, and supply of Engineering Plastics used in Medical and Life Science applications. Together, we work to anticipate physician and patient needs to create products for which there are simply no substitute."
The innovative material portfolio from Quadrant fills the performance gap left by products made of stainless steel, titanium, glass or ceramics due to a unique formulation delivering properties like weight reduction, resistance to commonly used sterilization methods, x-ray transparency, design flexibility, anti-static performance, and resistance to high energetic radiation. Products featured will be Ketron® PEEK LSG, Quadrant LSG PPSU, PSU, HS, and PC, Duratron® LSG PEI, Acetron® LSG, and Proteus® LSG HS PP.
"To consistently deliver breakthrough technologies within the orthopaedic implant industry requires us to work closely with implant manufacturers to develop advanced crosslinking technologies and bring this family of products to market," says Matrisciano. The first to adapt inert annealing techniques for UHMW-PE in this market, MediTECH®'s expertise in thermal stress-relieving and other post-sintering processes make Chirulen® and Extrulen™ easier to machine to exacting tolerances.
Quadrant will have this new material and the rest of the machinable plastics industry's broadest product line in Exhibit #4107 in Hall A at McCormick Place on March 19-23, 2013. Application specialists and technical experts will be in attendance to answer questions relating to the new material and to provide expert guidance for engineering and application solutions.
