Quanticate Hosts Indian Programming Competition With a Cash Prize of Rupee 10 Lakhs

BANGALORE, INDIA--(Marketwired - Dec 1, 2014) - Quanticate, a leading global data-focused clinical research organization (CRO) with extensive experience in clinical programming, today announced it will be running a SAS programming competition in India with a Rupee 10 Lakhs cash prize for the winning solution. The challenge of the competition is to create a generic set of SAS macros to convert SDTM data to ADaM standards based on the latest available CDISC specifications and implementation guides.

With continuing trends of highly skilled labour developing in India, it is expected that by 2017 there will be more developers in India than in the U.S and it is anticipated that this trend will increase the number of clinical programmers as well. "At Quanticate we believe it is important to invest in the development of this growing pool of experts in India. We believe that a large proportion of the labour market within the clinical trials industry will be based within the region and it is important to invest in the future by creating opportunities to develop talent," explained Sridhar Vuyyuru, Associate Director Programming for Quanticate.

"It is key for us to develop and employ expert programmers in India and we are committed to attracting and growing a group of 'Programming Technical Experts' to form a 'Centre of Excellence' within our programming group; it is intended that these roles will be comprised from programmers that rank in the top 5% of programming talent in India and as such they will receive the appropriate rewards and opportunities within Quanticate. This group will be solely valued on their technical knowledge and skills," continued Vuyyuru.

Having clinical programming staff within India is a core part of Quanticate's delivery model, where global teams are successfully delivering support to many leading global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and device companies within data sciences. "Quanticate is developing a 'Centre of Excellence' in clinical programming to attract the best clinical programmers across India and enable a fast-track to more senior levels," explains David Underwood, CEO. "We aim to raise awareness and increase understanding of the technical requirements for programming in the clinical trial industry by launching this competition and we hope to motivate clinical programming talent in India to further their own knowledge in this area," continued Mr Underwood.

Quanticate will showcase the winning solution with an award ceremony in April 2015 where the winner will receive their prize which will also be a reflection of their talent within the area of clinical programming. The competition deadline for entries is February 28th 2015.
