Quantrix and Baker Newman Noyes, LLC Partner to Deliver Strategic Planning Models to National University of Singapore
Quantrix Teams With Certified Public Accounting Firm to Assist Fast-Growing International University With 10-Year Strategic Plan
PORTLAND, ME--(Marketwire - March 11, 2008) - Quantrix today announced that it has partnered
with Baker Newman Noyes, LLC, one of Maine's largest certified public
accounting firms, in delivering integrated 10-year strategic planning and
forecasting models to the National University of Singapore (NUS). The two
Portland, ME-based firms helped the University migrate from a traditional
spreadsheet system to one that uses Quantrix's flexible, multidimensional
technology to enable the University to prepare for its future and support
its strong growth. Quantrix Modeler is Business Modeling and Analytics
(BMA) technology that enables business and financial professionals to
develop models in greater depth and from multiple perspectives while
improving productivity, accuracy, and transparency.
NUS has 186 departments and 15 schools, and is required by the Ministry of
Education to develop a 10-year strategic plan. The University initially
attempted to develop the models based on traditional spreadsheets, but
found that the technology would not support its complex requirements, so it
turned to Quantrix. Quantrix Consulting Manager Steve Bailey traveled to
Singapore with Sarah Weiss of Baker Newman Noyes to work on the models with
NUS staff. The team developed integrated models for critical university
functions such as capital budgeting, tuition revenue and ministry grant
forecasting, endowment planning, faculty and student capacity planning, and
cohort survival modeling. In addition to eliminating more than 150
worksheets and saving hundreds of labor hours, the models now can be used
and maintained by the University finance department, without reliance on
software programmers.
"Our collaboration with Quantrix to assist people on the other side of
world demonstrates the best of our companies," says Charles Hahn, Principal
and Director of Tax Services of Baker Newman Noyes. "Our combined
expertise was a great fit for the University, and BNN looks forward to more
opportunities to expand our global reach."
"It's very exciting when two Maine companies can partner together to
provide software and services that are in demand throughout the world,"
says Chris Houle, CEO, Quantrix. "Quantrix has customers in more than 45
countries and the list continues to grow. We look forward to building our
relationship with Baker Newman Noyes and other consultancies to deliver
specialized solutions that allow organizations to achieve rapid success
with Quantrix."
