Quantum Names Tom Valiante as Vice President, North America Channel Sales

Will Draw on Former NetApp and HDS Leader's Experience in Building Strong Partner Networks and Driving Branded Sales Growth as Company Extends Its Market Reach

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM), the leading global specialist in backup, recovery and archive, today announced that Tom Valiante has joined the company as vice president, North America Channel Sales. Valiante has 20 years of experience in channel sales, most recently serving as senior director, Americas Channel Business Development, at NetApp. He also spent nine years at Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) in channel leadership positions. Valiante will report directly to Ted Stinson, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales.

"As Quantum continues to expand its portfolio of data protection and management solutions for both physical and virtual environments, channel partnerships are critical to bringing the benefits of these solutions to users and meeting our branded growth objectives," said Stinson. "Tom's wealth of experience and deep understanding of the channel will enable us to create an even stronger partner network, particularly as we extend our reach into new markets."

Over the last several months, Quantum has built on its leadership in traditional backup with innovative additions to its DXi®-Series deduplication offerings and in managing "big data" with the introduction of new StorNext® appliances. The company also recently launched a turnkey solution for protecting virtual server data, integrating technology from its acquisition of Pancetera® Software. These new products enable Quantum to provide greater benefits to existing customers and, in the case of the StorNext appliances and virtualization solution, serve a broader set of users than it could previously. Reflecting the company's channel-centric go-to-market model, one of Valiante's top priorities will be making sure Quantum has the partnerships in place so that all these customers can take advantage of the expanded offerings, as well as those to come.

Valiante comes to Quantum after 3 ½ years at NetApp. As head of Americas Channel Business Development there, he developed and managed more than 100 partner business plans and played a critical role in increasing sales as the company transitioned 70 percent of product revenue to new platforms. Prior to taking the Channel Business Development position, Valiante served as senior channel sales director for the Western Area.

At HDS, Valiante was one of the leaders in establishing the company's channel program. As vice president, Channel Sales for North America, for seven years, Valiante led his team in growing channel sales from $20 million to half-a-billion dollars. He was then promoted to vice president, Global Traditional Channel Sales, where he drove the extension and customization of the programs he had successfully built in the Americas to other regions across the world.

"Quantum has an impressive range of innovative storage solutions that offer a unique combination of advanced technology, flexibility and best-in-class value," said Valiante. "I'm excited about working with Ted and others at Quantum in leveraging these assets to create a broader channel partner ecosystem dedicated to helping customers meet traditional backup and recovery needs, as well as new challenges and opportunities resulting from the significant growth of big data and virtual server data."
