Quickoffice Brings Mobile Office Productivity Application to Freescale Semiconductor's Android Tablet Reference Designs

Freescale Integrates Mobile Office Viewer Into Its Board Support Packages

TAIPEI, TAIWAN--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - Computex -- Quickoffice, Inc., the global leader in mobile office productivity solutions, has collaborated with Freescale Semiconductor to pre-load its software on Freescale's Android tablet reference designs. At Computex, May 31 - June 4, Freescale will demonstrate Quickoffice's leading mobile Office viewer on its Android Board Support Package (BSP) to showcase the performance, design flexibility and rich capabilities of the Freescale Smart Application Blueprint for Rapid Engineering (SABRE) platform for tablets, based on the i.MX53 family of multimedia applications processors.

Enhancing and streamlining productivity on-the-go, Quickoffice Pro for Android-based devices provides robust viewing and editing of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. In addition, the application seamlessly integrates with mobile cloud storage providers, including Google® docs,, Huddle, SugarSync and Dropbox, to enable users to easily access their digital content stored in remote cloud repositories. Quickoffice also provides a user-friendly interface that is responsive to a consumer's touch via its proprietary SmartTouch™ technology and includes an intuitive file manager for easy selection and movement of documents.

"We are excited to collaborate with Freescale and bring our powerful application to the company's long list of ODM and OEM customers," said Gregg Fiddes, VP of sales and business development at Quickoffice. "The Android-based tablet market is exploding and we see numerous development opportunities to work with leading manufacturers in creating high-end solutions. This collaboration supports our ongoing corporate growth and expansion to an even broader worldwide audience."

"As demand grows for Freescale solutions targeting the exciting tablet market, we are increasingly collaborating with industry leaders to build an ecosystem of features that run seamlessly on our i.MX processors," said Robert Thompson, tablet marketing lead for Freescale Semiconductor. "Quickoffice provides valuable mobile office features that enable end-users to increase their productivity on i.MX-powered tablets, and we are pleased to demonstrate this solution in conjunction with our reference platform."

Freescale's highly optimized Board Support Packages (BSPs), codecs and middleware maximize the capabilities of the i.MX53 feature set, while reducing overall system power consumption to enable longer play time on tablets. Freescale's i.MX processors are well adopted in the eReader and tablet markets. Freescale's SABRE platform for tablets can be used for a range of mobile devices requiring low power and an exceptional user experience. With the i.MX53 on-chip offerings, system-level power and performance optimizations and form-factor readiness, Freescale's SABRE platform for tablets enables customers to rapidly innovate new consumer products, while providing a foundation for enabling new product designs in vertical markets.
