Quin Hotel Launches Creative Chaos Exhibit by CORNO September 17

Internationally Renowned Painter Is Third Artist-in-Residence in Quin Arts Program

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 8, 2014) - The Quin hotel has announced the launch of Creative Chaos, a new collection of work from internationally renowned painter, CORNO. Co-curated by Channing Norton of MOCA Miami and DK Johnston of the Arts Fund, the exhibit is presented as part of Quin Arts cultural programming, a multidimensional platform that honors the hotel's artistic history while connecting patrons with distinguished contemporary creators. Creative Chaos opens with an invitation-only reception and artist salon at the Quin on September 17th and will be on display throughout the month. The lobby-level exhibit is open to the public September 18 through October 6.

The perfect complement to Manhattan's transition from the idle days of summer to the busiest season of the year, Creative Chaos is a dynamic and fiery collision of color, texture, and pop culture. The bursts of lime, red, gold, and green mimic the imminent evolution of Central Park, a similarly dramatic display that can be seen from a number of vantage points at the Quin.

The celebrity portraits in the collection fittingly evoke a certain Warholian quality, as well. With renderings of icons like Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss, Basquiat, and Warhol himself, CORNO may share an inclination toward popular luminaries, but she defines herself through the way in which she captures emotion from within. CORNO celebrates the enduring spirit of these stylistic visionaries and their unique, singular approach to visual representation of complexity, independence, and individuality -- all of which are also synonymous with the artist. Such energy is evident in all of her pieces, and as with Warhol, New York City has proven to be a catalytic canvas.

CORNO recently commented that what she loves most about New York is that; "[It] is impolite, aggressive, and fast -- so fast that there is no past and no tomorrow; only NOW." By focusing on the positive energy of things, she harnesses the creative chaos of the city and commands the work to emerge from this hostile environment -- work that is as bold, gutsy, and unapologetic as the city itself.

Quin Arts enriches the hotel's creative programming by connecting guests with New York City's thriving cultural scene through an ongoing series of events, exhibitions, salons, lectures, film premieres, book debuts, musical performances and artist receptions. This multi-media initiative extends to a substantial permanent collection, along with an artist-in-residence program, grand displays on the lobby's 15-foot abstract video art wall, which are specifically created for the hotel, and intimate salons with participating artists.
