Qumu Joins Polycom ARENA Program

The Integration of Qumu Products With Polycom Video Streaming Platform Will Broaden Availability of Key Capture & Streaming Technologies

EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - October 22, 2008) - Qumu, Inc., the leader in Enterprise Video Communications, today announced it has signed an agreement to join the Polycom ARENA partner program. Polycom, a leader in unified collaboration communications, initiated the ARENA program to allow software application providers, hardware device manufacturers, and conferencing solution providers to integrate their products with Polycom's industry leading unified collaboration platform to create new applications.

"The video teleconference and streaming video markets are converging," said Ray Hood, CEO of Qumu. "Both technologies have great independent uses and value propositions, but the combined solution turns one-time video events into video assets for the distributed organization. The quality and immediacy that video teleconferencing delivers, combined with the audience reach and lifecycle management that video streaming provides, lets organizations reach more people, at far less cost and with less environmental impact."

Two products from Qumu, the Qumu Capture Studio (QCS), and Qumu MediaNet, will be tested and certified by Polycom as part of the ARENA program, which aims to give its channels and customers confidence that these new ARENA certified products meet the needs and integration requirements with Polycom based videoconferencing solutions, including the Polycom® Video Media Center™ (VMC™) 1000.

Qumu will market and sell the two solutions which allows the two companies' combined solution to greatly expand beyond the VMC 1000 with the addition of capture and media distribution capabilities, meeting the full range of requirements for video conference recording, management and streaming. The resulting combined approach will provide customers with a complete end-to-end solution for video conference capture, management and streaming.

Qumu Capture Studio

Qumu enables distributed organizations to harness the power and strategic role of video communications to more effectively communicate with their employees, customers and partners in a way that will reduce corporate travel expenses, communication costs and Green House emissions. Enterprise solutions from Qumu remove the requirement for expensive video specialists or IT staff and allow business users to do everything from video webcasting to recording video conference meetings, from video change casting to simple video management and search. The QCS brings the complete video studio (mixing, switching and high resolution capture) to the videoconference room in a portable and self-contained studio appliance. The QCS provides instant recording and streaming capabilities incorporating Polycom endpoints with multiple sources for rich media capture. These multiple media sources include DVD, VGA, DVI, additional Camera feeds, and mixed streams (PIP, POP). The QCS provides easy upload into the Polycom VMC1000 for VOD management, live streaming, publishing and distribution and uses the new Microsoft Silverlight player.

Qumu MediaNet

The Qumu MediaNet solution is a scalable, automated webcasting appliance that enables organizations to quickly deploy an enterprise video streaming platform, delivering secure, live and on-demand business video to thousands of desktops around the world. MediaNet automates the setting up of publishing points on all streaming servers on the network, supporting multicast and unicast, and delivers automated failover to ensure uninterrupted streaming. Supported extensions to the Polycom VMC 1000 include support of industry leading Content Delivery Networks. Both the QCS and MediaNet systems from Qumu fully integrate and interoperate with Polycom Videoconferencing and streaming solutions, including Telepresence, VSX, HDX, VMC 1000, and RSS 2000.

"Polycom and its ARENA ecosystem partners, such as Qumu, are focused on proliferating new collaborative communications solutions that will benefit organizations worldwide," said Mark Roberts, vice president, Polycom ARENA program. "Qumu's Capture Studio solution addresses rich media capture integrated with Polycom endpoints in GEM markets. We are pleased to welcome Qumu into the Polycom ARENA program and look forward to working them to deliver this important solution to customers."

As part of the agreement, Qumu will leverage the Polycom platform, brand, and channels to bring this solution to market.
