RadioShack Receives Editor's Choice Award at Second Annual World Maker Faire

QUEENS, NY--(Marketwire - Sep 29, 2011) - Returning to its Do-It-Yourself roots, RadioShack® was awarded the Maker Faire Editor's Choice Award at the recent second annual World Maker Faire. Held at the New York Hall of Science Sept. 17-18, Maker Faire was an unforgettable weekend of science, art and DIY culture in a festival atmosphere.

At the RadioShack booth, 4,000 kits to build LED flashlights were given away and/or built by makers and media alike. RadioShack stores across the country, and RadioShack.com, offer a variety of products designed specifically for makers, including kits, batteries, LEDs, electrical components, wire and cabling, fusing and various other essential parts. Additionally, this fall RadioShack will begin carrying Arduino products, the number one requested product extension from our customers.

This year's Faire featured more than 500 makers as well as a crafts pavilion, village devoted to 3D printing and a special emphasis on innovations in health care. This exciting weekend of fun centered on creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness in all forms.
