Radix Welcomes Founding Pioneers of the .tech Domain Extension

OnePlus Co-Founder, Top Tech Influencers and Leading Startups Among the First to Adopt .tech

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 29, 2015) -  Radix, a leading new gTLD registry, today announced the founding pioneers for .tech as it enters the Early Access registration phase on July 29 at 16:00 UTC.

Co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei -- who recently revealed the highly-anticipated OnePlus 2 smartphone in the world's first virtual reality product launch -- is among the first of the tech industry's leaders to reserve a .tech domain. Pei, who is based in Shenzhen, joins a list of more than 40 tech innovators looking to differentiate their brand online.

Influential experts featured in a list of Top 30 Power Players in Tech that guide the industry on the latest devices: Linus Sebastian whose YouTube channel LinusTechTips has more than 1.7 million subscribers; Jonathan Morrison who has 122,000 Twitter followers and 120 million+ video views on his consumer-tech unboxings and reviews; and Austin Evans whose eponymous gaming PCs and smartphones review channel has more than a million YouTube subscribers, have each acquired their own .tech domains as well.

Global diversity across the tech space

Companies and renowned brands are flocking to the new .tech domain extension. Award-winning Italian startup Horus Technology will be using www.blind.tech for marketing its wearable device which is designed to assist the blind and visually-impaired. Web Summit, the acclaimed Dublin-based three day technology conference that was attended by 22,000 delegates in 2014, will also use a .tech domain.

India's leading media platform for entrepreneurs and the definitive source for stories on the world's fastest growing ecosystem, YourStory.com, has also confirmed its participation in the .tech Pioneer Program.

Impact.tech, founded by two Y Combinator alumni from San Francisco -- Seth Bannon and Ela Madej -- will be the go-to source for the impact entrepreneurship movement. It will feature a directory of social good for-profit startups, news about the industry, monthly interviews with the founders of companies that combine purpose with profit, and a talent bank that pairs developers, designers, and business people with impactful startups that are hiring.

Jessica Rose, an active proponent of inclusion and accessibility in the tech industry who currently blogs on Trans*Code, aims to raise awareness about issues facing the transgender community through her new website www.trans.tech.

More than 40 such Pioneers would be making their new .tech websites live over the upcoming months.

The .tech domain was officially announced at the Collision Conference in Las Vegas in May 2015. Top tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, Dell, Symantec, Oculus VR and Qualcomm have each registered multiple brand names individually in the first phase of the .tech launch which is exclusively for TMCH trademark holders.

"We have seen tremendous interest in our .tech Founders Program and are excited to see pre-registrations continue to grow for .tech. Additional registrants will be a part of the exclusive .tech Membership Program and will gain access to numerous benefits and perks. The .tech domain is a major game changer globally and has already proved to impact numerous industries," says Sandeep Ramchandani, Business Head of Radix.

The .tech team will be exhibiting at RISE in Hong Kong from July 31-August 1, 2015 and plans to attend TechCrunch's Disrupt SF being held from September 21-23, 2015.

Domain names for .tech will now be accessible to the public on a first come first serve basis starting July 29.
