RagingWire Targets Federal Government Customers Amid Data Center Consolidation Efforts With FISMA Moderate Controls Implementation and Attestation

RagingWire Gives Federal Agencies and Federal Government Contractors the Confidence That the Company's Data Center Colocation Meets Strict Security Requirements

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2013) - RagingWire Data Centers, the nation's premier data center provider, announced today that the company has implemented the NIST 800-53 moderate baseline controls necessary to support its customers' Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) data center compliance efforts. RagingWire also took the additional step of engaging BrightLine, a licensed CPA firm and the only Type A accredited FedRAMP 3rd Party Assessment Organization (3PAO), to perform an attestation examination of its controls implementation.

"RagingWire's initiative to implement the FedRAMP specific moderate level NIST 800-53 controls should complement the efforts of service providers and systems integrators that work with federal agencies," said Douglas Barbin, principal at BrightLine. "Obtaining an attestation examination, utilizing AICPA standards, of its implementation provides customers the third party verification that RagingWire's information security program adopts elements of FISMA."

RagingWire has seen an increasing trend of government and government contracting firms requesting FISMA compliant data centers as a first pass filter in their colocation searches. This term can be misleading as only federal agencies can be compliant with FISMA. In order to provide confidence to current and future customers that RagingWire complies with NIST 800-53 moderate baseline controls, RagingWire completed the months-long process for third-party attestation. RagingWire also completed the company's System Security Plan, a more than 300-page document detailing the implementation of applicable security practices required at the FISMA moderate level.

"In aligning our controls with the FISMA and FedRAMP moderate requirements, RagingWire makes a significant commitment to providing the security and compliance required to host both federal government customers and cloud service providers," said Jason Weckworth, vice president of data center operations at RagingWire.

Douglas Adams, RagingWire's senior vice president of sales and marketing, continued, "This attestation is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate to federal system integrators and federal agencies that RagingWire delivers a high security, high availability colocation experience to government and commercial customers alike."

In addition to the FISMA attestation, RagingWire's data center compliance program now includes PCI DSS 2.0 validation, Type 2 SOC 1 (SSAE 16) examination, U.S.-EU Safe Harbor, LEED Gold, and the EPA ENERGY STAR.
