Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers Selects Cavalier to Build Private Network

Cavalier, Cygnus Systems Partner to Deliver Secure, High-Speed Connections to 45 Locations Throughout Michigan

RICHMOND, VA--(Marketwire - March 16, 2010) -  Cavalier, a leading provider of competitive telecommunications services throughout the eastern United States, today announced that Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers, a Ypsilanti, Mich.-based provider of therapeutic rehabilitation services for individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries, has selected its Enterprise Express MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) service as the foundation for its voice and data communications. This upgrade allows Rainbow Rehabilitation to improve network speed and performance, increase worker productivity and ultimately enable better patient care.

"Our communications network has become the backbone of our data operations. We're layering additional services onto a network that previously was set aside for internal data applications only," said Greg Lascala, director of IT, Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers. "We selected Cavalier and our network integration partner Cygnus because both demonstrated their expertise and experience to manage this type of complex project."

Cavalier worked with Taylor, Mich.-based Cygnus Systems, Inc. to provide the solution which includes integrating 45 sites with MPLS service, Internet access, VoIP (voice over IP) service and voice lines.

"We help our customers stay on the forefront of network technology and cost effectively meet today's needs while preparing for future growth," said Alex Burkulas, president of Cygnus Systems, Inc. "We are proud of our combined work with Cavalier for Rainbow Rehabilitation."

By colocating critical application servers at the core of Cavalier's network, Rainbow Rehabilitation is able to improve availability and response times for employees accessing systems. For example, by centralizing its scheduling, time and attendance servers on the Cavalier MPLS backbone, Rainbow Rehabilitation provides faster response to users and further empowers employees who previously couldn't access the application. The network is designed with enough bandwidth that even heavy use of these internal applications do not compromise the speeds needed to transfer electronic medical records. Cavalier's MPLS network also provides the highest level of security to maintain compliance with HIPAA privacy and security rules.
