Rainclouds Turn to Joy as Mighty Clouds of Joy Offer Solace to Hurricane Victims on New "Voice Of The Spirit" CD

NASHVILLE, TN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 15, 2006 -- The Mighty Clouds of Joy is a name synonymous with soul-wrenching, southern gospel, so it makes perfect sense that John Carter Cash, son of June Carter and Johnny Cash, would tap the legendary group to perform one of the songs on his new southern gospel tribute project on Dualtone Records, "Voice Of The Spirit: The Gospel Of The South." The celebrated gospel group offers up a special, moving rendition of "We Will Overcome" on the new CD that speaks especially to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Since the release of the song to gospel radio stations across the country, fans have been clamoring to find the soul-stirring track that seems to offer consolation through its sheer emotional power.

The gospel standard, (chosen for the CD because it was a favorite of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, who were the inspiration behind this compilation record,) has also become a fast favorite among fans, who have been requesting it on radio and flocking to record stores around the country inquiring about how they can find it.

The track is just one of many moving performances on an album which features Johnny and June's most treasured southern gospel hymns, now newly recorded by their favorite artists and close family friends. This one-of-a-kind compilation includes contributions by Marty Stuart and Mavis Staples, Ronnie and Del McCoury, Rodney Crowell, Earl and Randy Scruggs, Vince Gill, and the Man In Black himself, among others.

"Voice Of The Spirit: The Gospel Of The South" will be released on April 4th, and Dualtone has dedicated a portion of the proceeds from each record sold to the American Red Cross in memory of the Hurricane victims.
