BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2011) - On Tuesday September 13, CUPE BC is hosting a rally and free BBQ to support the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) staff who have been locked out by their employer since July 10.
The SFSS staff is made up of student employees as well as various professionals that run SFU's Women's Centre, the Student Society's General Office and Surrey Office, as well as Out on Campus, an important resource for SFU's queer community. The staff provide important support for clubs, departmental student unions and individual undergraduate students.

Tuesday's rally will bring SFU students, staff, and supporters from across the Lower Mainland together to demand that SFSS Board of Directors end the lockout and restore student services.

Speakers at the rally will include CUPE BC President Barry O'Neill, SFU Labour Studies instructor John-Henry Harter, and NDP MLA Spencer Chandra-Herbert (SFU alumnus).
The event's M.C. will be SFSS staff member Nadine Chambers (Women's Centre Coordinator).
