Rampart's Board Appoints Nelson W. Baker as President

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 11, 2005) - The Board of Directors of RAMPART VENTURES LTD. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:RPT) is pleased to announce the following corporate appointments, effective October 7, 2005:

E.D. "Ted" Duncan a Director and formerly President of the Company, has agreed to relinquish his presidency but will continue to serve on the Board as a Director.

Nelson W. Baker, P.Eng., a Director of the Company, has been appointed President and CEO of the Company. Mr. Baker graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines with a degree in geological engineering in 1969. He possesses over 40 years of successful experience in all aspects of mineral exploration and development in Canada and internationally. Between 1969 and 1982, Mr. Baker was part regional program searching for uranium in the Labrador Trough, the Otish Basin and the Havre St. Pierre areas of Quebec with Esso Minerals Canada. He has served on the board of several public companies both as director and officer. Mr. Baker is presently the President and COO of Rainy River Resources Ltd. and actively serves as a director for Boulder Mining Corp. and Temex Resources Corp.

Rampart's management and experienced technical team are exploring for commercial grade uranium deposits in under-explored Proterozoic basins in Canada. The Company's principal focus is on the Sibley Basin northeast of Thunder Bay, Ontario where it is the largest land holder with over 171,000 acres. Several new high grade uranium showings found by Company prospectors this past field season may indicate that the Sibley Basin could host a commercial grade uranium deposit.

On behalf of the Board of Directors

Nelson W. Baker, President
