SAN MARCOS, CA--(Marketwired - October 17, 2016) - Homebuilder and developer Brookfield Residential projects the creation of more than 800 jobs at its new San Marcos community named Rancho Tesoro. Grading is currently underway at the community, where Brookfield and builder partner California West Communities plan to build 346 single-family homes, recreation areas, trails and more.
Spanning more than 250 acres, the new community will deliver model homes in spring 2017, with the first residents moving in next summer.

Job totals are calculated using the most recent Center for Housing Policy report, "An Economic and Fiscal Analysis of Housing Construction in the Golden State," which states that 2.4 jobs are created per new home in San Diego County. Following construction jobs, which represent nearly half of the pie at Rancho Tesoro, are retail trades.
Upon completion, Rancho Tesoro will showcase homes across four distinct neighborhoods, with three behind residential gates. The detached homes will include private yards, four to five bedrooms, two-car garages, dual master bedrooms, outdoor rooms, and garages with roll-up rear doors that open to the backyard. Homes will range in size from approximately 2,211 to 3,565 square feet.
The community will include a direct connection to Discovery Lake for walking and biking, catch-and-release fishing, picnicking, playgrounds and more. Future residents will have access to the city's high-performing schools within the San Marcos School District, and be around the corner from Cal State University San Marcos.
Proposed private recreational amenities at Rancho Tesoro include a pool, barbecues, picnic tables, a covered trellis pavilion, neighborhood parks and access to multiple trails for walking, jogging and bicycling.
