Rapides Parish, La., Automates Public Safety Processes With New World Systems' Integrated Software

TROY, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 14, 2005 -- New World Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for the public sector, announced Rapides Parish, La., Sheriff's Office signed a contract valued at approximately $2 million for its Aegis® software and services.

New World will provide the sheriff's office with its integrated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management, Mobile Computing and Aegis Justice Link solutions to automate processes from dispatching to investigative.

"We looked at a number of public safety software vendors, and we chose New World for several reasons," said MIS Director Freddie Dufour, Rapides Parish, La. "New World is well known in the industry and has several customers in the state. Currently, we do not have CAD or Mobile software, and New World offers a proven and comprehensive package that will provide us with benefits immediately."

Communications personnel have been manually dispatching units and tracking incidents, which takes valuable amounts of time. New World's CAD software will provide automated dispatching, such as helping dispatchers to locate the closest unit to decrease response time. Based on the dispatcher's answers to a pre-defined questionnaire, the system recommends what units and equipment should be dispatched. Dispatchers will also have easy access to a unit's status, whether the unit is en route to a call, at a call, at a routine traffic stop or available.

"The Field Reporting software was a critical requirement," said Dufour. "Officers will no longer have to return to headquarters to write a report with this software. They will be able to stay in the streets where they are visible and able to spend more time keeping the community safe. We are looking forward to implementing New World's solution."

New World's software will help more than 500 employees, including 200 sworn officers and 20 communications personnel, enhance services to approximately 128,000 citizens.
