RapidMiner to Showcase Value of Predictive Analytics at Hadoop Summit

Advanced Analytics Visionary to Lead Session That Reviews the Powerful Combination of Big Data and Predictive Analytics

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 2, 2014) - Pioneering predictive analytics leader RapidMiner today announced that company co-founder and CEO, Ingo Mierswa will present at the 2014 Hadoop Summit taking place June 3-5 in San Jose, Calif. The 7th Annual Hadoop Summit features Apache Hadoop thought leaders who showcase successful Hadoop use cases, share development and administration tips and tricks, and educate organizations about how best to leverage Apache Hadoop as a key component in their enterprise data architecture.

At the session titled, "In-Hadoop, In-Database and In-Memory Processing for Predictive Analytics," Mierswa will examine how enterprises are realizing the mere storage of data does not offer any inherent value, and it is the analysis of the data which transforms it into actionable insights. It will focus on how big data is changing analytics, the attractiveness of the Hadoop platform for the distributed storage and processing of structured and unstructured big data sets, and the benefits of predictive analytics for going beyond identifying what or why something has happened, to help determine what can happen. This session will also review in-Hadoop, in-database and in-memory processing for predictive analytics, including advantages and disadvantages for each, and benchmark runtimes on a predictive analytics platform with a Hadoop connector. The session takes place June 4 from 5:25 p.m. - 6:05 p.m. PT.

"Perhaps the most exciting recent development in leveraging data is the combined application of big data and predictive analytics," said Mierswa. "The Hadoop Summit is an event where the industry's foremost developers, architects, administrators, data analysts, data scientists and vendors interested in advancing or extending Apache Hadoop gather to share their ideas. We're excited to showcase what RapidMiner and Hadoop can achieve together."
