Rate Averages Stay Steady, but Some Lenders Show Slight Decline in Rates, According to Informa Research Services

CALABASAS, CA--(Marketwire - June 18, 2009) - While the 30 year fixed mortgage national average rate remained unchanged, a number of lenders lowered rates from a week ago, according to Informa Research Services (http://www.erate.com/mortgage_rates_search.htm).

According to Informa's Interest Rate Review, the national average 30 year fixed rate stayed relatively steady from a week ago rising only 9 basis points to 5.79%. However, this is still 81 basis points lower than 6.60% exactly one year ago.

Lenders such as Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Nationwide Mortgage Lending Group, and AIM Loans lowered their rates on their 30 year fixed conforming mortgage 25 to 40 basis points over the past week even though their counterparts held their rates steady. Informa advises consumers to shop online to find the most competitive rates.
