BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - September 21, 2007) - SD Best Practices Conference -- Ravenflow, the only company delivering automated requirements validation for application development organizations, today announced that president and CEO, Dr. Joe Marasco, will present a session on best practices for ensuring that software requirements are as complete, accurate, and precise as possible at the SD Best Practices Conference, taking place this week at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Dr. Marasco's presentation, "Defining Requirements: Best Practices for Ensuring Quality Before Coding Begins," is scheduled today, Friday, September 21, at 10:30 a.m. Details are as follows:

Who: Dr. Joe Marasco, President and CEO, Ravenflow
What: "Defining Requirements: Best Practices for Ensuring Quality
           Before Coding Begins"
Where: SD Best Practices, Hynes Convention Center, Room 310,
           Boston, Massachusetts
When: Friday, September 21, 2007, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., ET

According to Dr. Marasco, requirements errors are the number one cause of software project failures, yet many organizations continue to create requirements specifications that are unclear, ambiguous, and incomplete. The problem is that requirements quality often gets lost in translation between business people who think in words and software architects and engineers who prefer visual models. In his session, Dr. Marasco will discuss the weak links in the requirements development cycle of elicitation, analysis, validation, and specification, as well as tactics for avoiding errors and ensuring quality in the face of continual change.

Dr. Marasco is a 35-year software industry veteran and author of "The Software Development Edge: Essays on Managing Successful Projects," published in 2005 by Addison-Wesley. Prior to taking the helm at Ravenflow, he served as senior vice president of Rational Software Corporation until it was acquired by IBM in 2003.
