Raydon Enhances VWI Program With InterSense Technology

Wireless IC3 Inertial Sensors to Be Integrated Into Virtual Warrior Interactive Trainers, Improving Tracking Accuracy to Enhance Training Technique and Improve Users' Mission Readiness

BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwire - September 5, 2007) - InterSense, Inc., a market leader in precision motion tracking technology, today announced multiple orders for its wireless InertiaCube3 (IC3) sensors for integration into Raydon's Virtual Warrior Interactive (VWI) trainers. Designed for dismounted soldiers to train on virtual battlefields and interact with convoy, tank, armored vehicles and helicopter trainers, the VWI's 360-degree simulated field of view enables mission rehearsals to be performed in exact virtual replicas of terrain where US forces will be deployed.

For increased precision and accuracy, InterSense's orientation sensors are used to track both head and weapon movements in the VWI. The flexibility to track users on foot and inside a vehicle allows soldiers to practice and refine battle drills for building clearance, dismounted patrols, react to an ambush and quickly secure an area of concern.

Mounting the robust, wireless sensors directly inside the weapon enables realistic movement by the soldier, while also transmitting accurate weapon aiming information. This solution maintains the real look and feel of the weapon while ensuring accurate simulation that protects against negative training. An InterSense weapon interface feature offers fire select, safety and trigger modes to realistically demonstrate how the soldier is relating to the simulated environment.

"Our long term work with Raydon is a testament to our companies' synergy and dedication to the military simulation and training market," stated Michael Donfrancesco, vice president of sales for InterSense. "We are pleased to have collaborated with Raydon on the VWI and look forward to partnering on future applications that will revolutionize military simulation and training capabilities."

"InterSense's reliable tracking technology helps support our mission to provide accurate virtual world training to ensure lives are saved in real world combat," stated Mike Riley, vice president of training and logistics, Raydon Corporation. "Due to the past success of head tracking technology provided by InterSense in our Virtual Convoy Operations Trainers (VCOT), it was the natural choice when we wanted to enhance weapon tracking in the VWI."
