RCN Adds Shalom TV to Its Free Video ON DEMAND Line-Up

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - June 22, 2009) - RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of all-digital and high definition video, high-speed internet, and premium voice services to residential and small-medium business customers, as well as high-capacity transport services to carrier and large enterprise customers, announced today that it now offers Shalom TV, American Jewry's National Cable TV Network, as part of its free Video ON DEMAND cable television service.

"We are so thrilled to bring Shalom TV to RCN's customers," said Mark S. Golub, President of Shalom TV. "RCN provides Shalom TV's unique spectrum of programming -- everything from our Jewish Film Festival, Israel and interviews with the leading figures on the world Jewish scene to Shabbat TV Kids and Jewish Studies."

"RCN is committed to continuously enhance our video services. Shalom TV helps us fulfill our wish to not only bring new channels to FREE On Demand, but to offer customers unique and diverse programming," said Richard Ramlall, SVP, Strategic External Affairs and Programming at RCN.

Shalom TV is the only television network where one can see programs from the renowned 92nd Street Y (with such guests as Jason Alexander, Cynthia Ozick, Richard Dreyfus, David Brooks, Anita Diament, Bernard-Heni Levy and Adin Steinzaltz).

Shalom TV is also the only national network featuring Jewish programming for children (Story Time, Mr. Bookstein's Store, Agent Emes, and Great Achievements of the Jewish People).

And Shalom TV is the only place on television where one can learn to read and understand Hebrew (From the Aleph Bet), study a page of Talmud (Dimensions of the Daf) and learn the mysteries of Kabbalah (Kabbalah Revealed).

Moreover, Shalom TV's guest list reads like a "Who's Who" in the Jewish world. Alan Dershowitz, Leonard Fein, Abe Foxman, David Harris, Ron Lauder, Benjamin Netanyahu, David Saperstein, Natan Sharansky, Eric Yoffie and Mort Zuckerman are typical of the weekly guests who share personal analysis and opinion on the Network.

Shalom TV's exclusive programming offers extended coverage of AIPAC's annual policy conference, the major addresses from (the) UJC's annual General Assembly, talks by major intellectual and rabbinic figures on the world Jewish scene (Leon Wieseltier, Harold Kushner, David Cardoza, Abraham Infield), and conversations with leaders of national Jewish organizations (Nancy Falchuk of Hadassah, Abe Foxman of ADL, Ronald Lauder of World Jewish Congress).
