Reading Under the Influence Celebrates Its Tenth Year at Sheffield's Beer and Wine Garden

Planned Property Management Encourages Residents and Employees to Take Advantage of This and Other Unique Cultural Opportunities Convenient to Apartments in Lakeview

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 17, 2014) - Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Reading Under the Influence returned to the Sheffield Beer and Wine Garden June 4. The event featured local authors reading their work along with short excerpts from published works and trivia questions related to a monthly theme. This month's theme is "Well Done." Cover charge is $3 and it's a 21+ event.

Reading Under the Influence (RUI) was started by Chicago writers Amanda Snyder, Carly Huegelmann, Rob Duffer, Joe Tower, and Julia Borcherts. It allows local writers to share their own work and bond over the fun of trivia and drinking (though alcohol consumption is not required). Prizes are awarded to people who do the best on trivia, which is selected by the reading author. Authors who want to have their work considered for a future RUI should bring a hardcopy of a piece 750 words or less to the event.

"This is a very different literary event," said Jasko Omervic of Planned Property Management. "It's fun, accessible, and not at all like the dry, stuffy readings you might have gone to in college. It's nice to have a great event like this just a 15 minute walk from our property at 544 W. Melrose. That way there's no risk of a DUI after the RUI."

The event occurs regularly on the first Wednesday of the month. Future themes are determined only after a reader and reading are selected. Past themes have included "Getting There," "Nine," "Suicidal Authors," "Sex," and "Carnival." For more information visit
