Real Medicine Foundation's CEO, Dr. Martina Fuchs, Receives Lifetime's Remarkable Woman Award

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 11, 2011) - Today the Real Medicine Foundation ( announces that its Founder and CEO, Dr. Martina Fuchs, is Lifetime's Remarkable Woman

Lifetime is honoring the CEO and founder of Los Angeles-based Real Medicine for her focus on improving healthcare around the world. Lifetime's Remarkable Women is weekly vignettes featured on-air and online celebrating extraordinary women who "inspire and encourage all of us to make a difference in our world". Salutes have included unsung heroes as well as household names including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama, Gloria Steinem, Queen Latifah, and Maria Shriver. This is Fuchs' first time receiving the honor.

Fuchs says she hopes that through this spotlight on Real Medicine's efforts, more people will understand how directly their support impacts what she and her team can do around the world.

The honor comes as Fuchs is working to establish the funding for Real Medicine Foundation's Hospital Consortium Project in Haiti, a joint effort to make quality healthcare at three previously private hospitals available to the public and offer 24-hour care to those in Port-au-Prince. Fuchs says, "This will be a new model for healthcare in Haiti; our project increases in patient flow from 5,800 to 20,500/month within the first year. The RMF consortium project has already been approved by the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC), and the Haitian Ministry of Health."

Real Medicine Foundation operates and coordinates healthcare clinics in tandem with local healthcare providers. The organization has maintained a steady presence in Haiti since the nation's earthquake nearly one year ago. RMF focuses on providing communities with self-perpetuating solutions and clinics, while also taking steps to strengthen the foundations of healthcare, such as establishing the first ever accredited School for Nursing and Midwifery in South Sudan
