Realsec Launches H3P, Data Preparation and Cryptographic Key Management Tool for EMV Banking Cards

Realsec H3P Ensures an Easy Transition to EMV Card Issuance From Magnetic Stripe Card Deployments by Automating the Multiple Steps Required

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 11, 2013) - Realsec, a leading secure vendor of cryptographic solutions worldwide, today announced the availability of the Realsec H3P in North America. Realsec H3P technology provides an intuitive data preparation and key management environment for issuance of EMV compliant banking cards. Realsec H3P ensures an easy transition to EMV card issuance from magnetic stripe card deployments by automating the multiple steps required.

H3P integrates Realsec's Cryptosec PCI hardware security module (HSM) with all software needed for the data collection, creation and protection of all cryptographic keys, and output file preparation required to issue EMV cards. The Cryptosec PCI HSM is fully FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL4+ certified. PCI DSS certification is in progress.

"Realsec brings more than 10 years of experience in migration from legacy magnetic stripe to EMV compliant systems. We bring this foundation and expertise to North American payment card issuers who are looking to transition with Realsec H3P," said Sebastian Muñoz, CEO of Realsec, Inc. "H3P includes all software for system management and functionality, and a PCI card type HSM, the Cryptosec PCI, which is installed on a user's production computer. The solution can read original magnetic stripe card issuance files, eliminating conversions steps and the need to modify host applications."

With Realsec H3P, the EMV card profiles, including multi-application cards, can easily be defined using the system's graphical user interface. Output is in a highly flexible and standardized, XML-based open file format that readily integrates with most card printers and card production systems and can easily be customized to each user's application requirements.

Key Features of the Realsec H3P include:

  • Prototype packages enable customers to try the technology with a relatively low investment
  • Extremely easy to use. Avoid expensive time consuming training sessions
  • Highly scalable, as users can add multiple HSMs to their network to reduce data preparation time
  • Maximum throughput of up to 7,700 EMV DDA operations per hour, the fastest in the industry
  • Automatically generates the bank's unique EMV master issuance certificate request to card issuers such as VISA or MasterCard, and imports signed issuer certificates
  • Complete solution including HW and SW from the same vendor eliminates issues related to multivendor solutions
  • Full EMV standard support: Debit, Credit, Contactless and Prepaid cards
  • Multi-application capabilities (e.g. financial product + reward card)
  • Standard output format file. Works with any card printer
  • Instant issuance capabilities (Integration with Fargo printers)

Realsec's Cryptosec PCI, a PCI card HSM, performs the necessary cryptographic functions, such as EMV key management, key storage, transfer, backup and EMV certificate handling. The HSM securely stores the bank's master EMV issuance key in a tamper resistant and tamper responsive device, ensuring the maximum protection of all keys. Issuers maintain full control of all master keys, avoiding the practice of passing control of essential keys to third parties.
