Realtors® Take Real Estate to Radio

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - February 11, 2009) - In today's challenging economic environment, America's homeowners, buyers and sellers will soon have a new source of comprehensive real estate information when the National Association of Realtors®, 630 WMAL and XM Satellite Radio launch a national radio show this weekend.

"Real Estate Today" will debut on flagship station 630 WMAL here on Sunday, February 15, at 1 p.m. EST, with a new two-hour program airing each week. The program will also reach a national audience online at and on satellite radio beginning February 14 via America's Talk, XM Channel 158, Saturdays, 5-7 p.m. EST; Talk Radio, XM Channel 165, Saturdays, 1-3 p.m. EST; and Stars, Sirius-XM Channel 102, Saturdays, 6-8 a.m. and Sundays, 9-11 a.m.

Hosted by award-winning radio broadcaster Gil Gross, the show will offer a fast-paced format including provocative experts, listener call-ins, field reports and a customized segment on local market conditions. "Real Estate Today" will cover the spectrum of the benefits and challenges of homeownership, offering listeners a go-to spot for information about their home, from expert advice on buying and selling to remodeling and landscaping to the state of the current market and home financing issues.

"Consumers face such a glut of conflicting information about homeownership, it's often tough to know what advice they can trust," said NAR President Charles McMillan. "As the most trusted resource for real estate information for the past 100 years, NAR is uniquely positioned to give people the information they need to make smart decisions about their homes."

Real estate accounts for approximately one-fifth of the overall U.S. economy. More than two of every three households in America own their own homes, and more than 5 million homes will be bought and sold this year.

"Here in the nation's capital, real estate and the role it will play in the country's economic recovery is top of mind with an awful lot of people," said Jeff Boden, WMAL president and general manager. "As Washington's news and talk leader, 630 WMAL engages our listeners in the vital issues of the day, and we look forward to doing that with 'Real Estate Today.' We believe the show's timeliness and relevance in today's marketplace will attract a valuable audience in the D.C. area and beyond."

"Few issues affect families as close to home, so to speak, as those related to real estate, and that's particularly true today," said McMillan. "Market trends, legislative and regulatory actions, and financial developments all affect homeowners, buyers and sellers, and this show will inform and educate listeners about the biggest investment most of them will ever make."

The National Association of Realtors®, "The Voice for Real Estate," is America's largest trade association, representing 1.2 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
