Recapture of Inmate from Montee St-Francois Institution

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 10, 2012) - As a result of a collaborative effort between the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), the Sûreté du Québec and the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, federal offender Gilles Meloche, who had escaped from Montée St-François Institution on October 7, 2012, was recaptured on October 10, 2012, in Montreal.

At the time of his escape, Gilles Meloche was serving an indeterminate sentence since September 13, 1980 for second degree murder, attempted murder, forcible confinement, theft and armed robbery.

CSC will review the circumstances surrounding the incident and will take necessary measures to address any safety and security issues resulting from this incident.
