Recent Poll Conducted by Gravis Marketing Indicates a Tight Race in Calgary Elbow

WINTER SPRINGS, FL--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2015) - Gravis Marketing, a non-partisan political consulting and marketing research firm based in Winter Springs, Fla. recently completed a random survey of 445 likely voters in the provincial riding of Calgary-Elbow in Alberta, Canada on potential matchups for the upcoming election. The poll was conducted between April 2 - 6, 2015, before the election call using Gravis Marketing IVR technology and weighted by anticipated voting demographics. The results indicated by the Gravis Marketing poll have a margin of error of ±5%.

The first question in the Gravis Marketing poll is designed to gather a pulse of the voting segment and their likelihood of voting which asked the 445 likely voters, "How likely is it that you will vote in the upcoming provincial general election?" 85 percent of those asked indicated that they were very likely to vote in the upcoming election, while 14 percent stated they were somewhat likely. Of the 445 people asked this question, less than one percent indicated that they were somewhat unlikely to vote.

The second question asked the likely voters, "As of today, how do you intend to vote in the upcoming provincial general election?" Nearly one-quarter of those asked (25 percent) answered that they were still unsure as to whom they would vote for in the upcoming election. Greg Clark, leader of the Alberta Party is tied with Gordon Dirks of the Progressive Conservative party, who currently serves as the Education Minister, capturing 20 percent equally in the poll. Three parties that currently have no candidate listed, including the Wildrose, NDP and Liberal parties received 14 percent, 11 percent and 10 percent support in the Gravis Marketing Poll.

Finally, when asked if there was a candidate that the voters were 'leaning' towards voting, an overwhelming amount, 57 percent indicated that they were currently unsure. 17 percent indicated that they were not leaning towards any specific candidate. Gordon Dirks led the individuals receiving support, with 9 percent, while the Wildrose party received 8 percent, Greg Clark of the Alberta Party received 6 percent and the NDP received 3 percent support of those that participated in the Gravis Marketing poll.

"There are a few specific items that really stand out in this recent poll from Canada, but what really caught my eye at first was that 99 percent of those we asked seem very intent in voting in the upcoming election," stated Doug Kaplan, the Founder and CEO of Gravis Marketing. "That's traditionally an indication of an electorate that is bound to make an impact at the polls. However, what also caught my attention was that Dirks and Clark are virtually tied -- with a slight nod going to the current Education Minister, Mr. Dirks. And since Mr. Clark is the leader of the Alberta Party, this could signal a shift in the political landscape in Alberta."

Of the 445 people polled, the gender base was split with 53 percent being female voters and 47 percent male voters. The largest age demographic participating in the Gravis Marketing poll was 45 to 54 and 35 to 44 (receiving 24 percent each). The 25 to 34 age demographic represented 22 percent of those polled, 55 to 64 age bracket measured 20 percent, while the 65+ electorate was only 8 percent, 20 to 24 was two percent and under 19 was under one percent.
