Reconnex Named a Top Leader in Data Leak Prevention

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2008) - Reconnex, a leader in data leak prevention appliances, today announced that it was named a top leader in the June 2008 Forrester Wave™: Data Leak Prevention, Q2 2008 Report.

Forrester employed approximately 74 criteria in the categories of current offering, strategy, and market presence to evaluate participating vendors on a scale from 0 (weak) to 5 (strong).

-- The company received a perfect score of 5.0 in the sub-categories of
data-in-motion (i.e., the network piece of DLP), unified management, and
    administration
-- Reconnex tied for the top scores in the sub-categories of data-at-rest
    (i.e., discovery) and forensics

"Reconnex offers best-in-class product functionality through its automated classification and analysis engine, which allows customers to sift through the actual data that the engine monitors to learn what is important to protect," according to the Forrester Wave: Data Leak Prevention, Q2 2008 Report. "This solution stands out because it is the only one that automatically discovers and classifies sensitive data without prior knowledge of what needs to be protected."

"We've been working hard to create the best-in-class enterprise DLP solution that not only protects against known risks such as personal privacy, compliance, and acceptable use violations, but also enables customers to identify and protect against less obvious risks associated with intellectual property and the 'unknown' information leaks that can only be identified and investigated after they have occurred," said John Peters, CEO at Reconnex. "Our standing in the Forrester Wave: Data Leak Prevention, Q2 2008 Report is recognition from the analyst community that Reconnex has achieved its goal and that our unique learning capability should be a 'must have' requirement for any DLP deployment."

The Reconnex 7.0 iGuard DLP appliance enables enterprises to learn what intellectual property (IP) and other digital assets need protection and who within and outside the organization should have access to these assets. A patent-pending Content Analytics Engine quickly aggregates, synthesizes, and analyzes huge amounts of data in the iGuard Capture database and determines who should be allowed access to which sensitive data. Unlike solutions that can only deal with known data like social security numbers (SSNs) and credit card numbers (CCNs), the Reconnex DLP solution enables organizations to define business processes on their most sensitive and non-obvious information.

"Reconnex is a good fit for US customers who are looking for an accurate, broad-based DLP solution and who have no insight into what types of information are floating around the organization and how important that data is for the ongoing success of the company," said the Forrester Wave: Data Leak Prevention, Q2 2008 Report.
