Red Back Mining Inc.: High Grade Continues Under Akoti and Suraw Pits at Chirano Mine

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 27, 2007) - Red Back Mining Inc. (the "Company" or "Red Back") (TSX:RBI) is pleased to report on continuing high grade results below the central portion of the Chirano open pits.

Currently, the Chirano Mine is a series of surface deposits along an 11km long shear zone. Infill drilling of these deposits in 2006 and 2007 highlighted the potential of high grade feeder zones at depth. The significance of these feeder zones has been clearly demonstrated by the discovery and economic evaluation of Akwaaba Deeps, located beneath the Akwaaba open pit deposit (News Release 21 November 2007). Akwaaba Deeps has so far only been tested to a depth of 450 meters and looks to add +1 Million ounces to the Chirano operation. Akwaaba Deeps will be developed in 2008 and will increase gold production at Chirano to 250,000 ounces per annum. Akwaaba (and Akwaaba Deeps) is located 5 kms south of the main pit and milling complex (Refer to attached site plan map).

Following on the success of Akwaaba Deeps, drilling has been ongoing under the other deposits at Chirano, moving north from Akwaaba. Of particular significance to this point are high grade discoveries under the Suraw deposit and the Akoti Pit complex, in the central part of the Chirano operation.

Deep results from Suraw and the Akoti complex are as follows:

Suraw Deposit

Results from the current drill program at Suraw show a widening and increase in grade of the ore body at depth. Drilling is ongoing to define the economics of the near term development of an underground operation immediately below the open pit and to evaluate the economics of a larger operation at depth.

Akoti Pit Complex

Similar to Suraw, drilling under the Akoti Complex shows the near term potential to mine higher grade underground ounces upon completion of surface mining. Open pit operations at Akoti Extended will be completed in early 2008, allowing ready access to and near term development of the high grade mineralization being identified at depth. An economic evaluation in early 2008 will determine the scope and timing of this development with the intention of feeding more high grade underground ore to the mill expansion.

Ongoing Drilling Programs at Chirano

Drilling continues at Akwaaba Deeps to further define reserves from surface to 450 metres depth. A new resource/reserve model for Akwaaba Deeps is anticipated in the first Quarter of 2008. In the early New Year a fence of deeper holes will target the down dip, down plunge extension of the high grade Akwaaba Deeps ore body.

Through the New Year, two drill rigs will continue to test the potential of high grade mineralization below the other Chirano deposits as well as new targets delineated by geochemical sampling and geophysical testing along the Chirano Shear. At a recent meeting, the Board of Directors of the Company approved a $6.5 million budget for exploration at Chirano in the first six months of 2008.

Commenting on these new drill results and exploration for 2008 Richard Clark, President and CEO of the Company, stated,

"Chirano is a classic, large, Birimian shear hosted gold system with mineralisation hosted over more than 10km of strike length. In these systems high grade shoots are common and often show considerable depth extent. Drilling to date has barely started to investigate the potential of Chirano. We will continue an aggressive exploration program in 2008. Our cost of delineating reserves in 2007 has been $10 per ounce. We fully expect these economics to continue in 2008 with the new discoveries at Suraw and the Akoti Complex".

Red Back Mining Inc. is an African focused gold producer. It owns and operates the Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana and the Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania. At Chirano, the Company is expanding its current operations through development of newly discovered high grade underground resources. At Tasiast, gold production has commenced with commercial production anticipated by the first quarter of 2008. In addition, Red Back is continuing an aggressive exploration program to increase its resource and reserve base at both projects.

The technical contents of this release have been reviewed by Hugh Stuart, BSc., MSc, a Qualified Person pursuant to NI-43101. Mr. Stuart is the VP - Exploration of the Company and a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Samples are prepared and analyzed by fire assay using a 50 gram charge at the Analabs facility in Bibiani, Ghana in compliance with industry standards. Field duplicate samples are taken and blanks and standards are added to every batch submitted. Selected samples from this lab are check assayed each month at other Analabs laboratories worldwide.
