ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwired - May 1, 2013) - Red Giant Entertainment Inc. (OTCQB: REDG), an innovative Intellectual Property company specializing in high quality characters and content for use in a variety of media and entertainment, is pleased to announce that it will launch a bold new brand of vampire tale via the release of "Katrina" in webcomic format beginning today. The compelling story of Katrina is simultaneously being developed as a feature film, as Red Giant hopes to add to its growing film catalog.
Katrina is the creation of Red Giant CEO Benny Powell, who will also pen the dynamic new transmedia series. The story centers around the legend of Katrina, Queen of the Vampires, who has been locked inside a convent for nearly two centuries... until the storm that bears her name unleashes the gorgeous and powerful creature.
"I have been quietly working on Katrina for some time now," stated Red Giant Entertainment CEO, Benny Powell. "This project is near and dear to my heart and I have developed Katrina specifically to be mindful of the demands of Hollywood and our dedicated comic book readers. I believe Katrina has all of the earmarks to be another Red Giant success in both lucrative mediums."
Katrina marks the first webcomic to be helmed by Mr. Powell, since the launch of Red Giant's highly-successful flagship comic, Wayward Sons: Legends. Wayward Sons launched less than three years ago and has not only amassed nearly 60 million views and served almost half a billion ads; it also recently announced a film and television production deal in connection with Lin Pictures.
"Benny approached us with this idea and we are excited to be working on its development into a feature film as it launches as a Webcomic," said Isen Robbins, Producer and Red Giant Chief Intellectual Property Officer. "This is another example of developing comics that can translate into multiple platforms. We will continue to develop this and many other properties into films, video games, television, apps, and whatever else makes sense."
