RedBrick and Monj Announce Strategic Partnership to Address Growing Opportunity in Nutrition and Behavior Change

Companies Announce Collaboration on Integrated Digital Offering and Live Coaching Model That Address the Needs of Those With Prediabetes and Chronic Conditions

MINNEAPOLIS, MN and SAUSALITO, CA--(Marketwired - June 16, 2016) - RedBrick Health, a leader in population health and well-being, today announced a partnership with Monj, a new digital food and cooking platform designed to create healthful change. Through its interactive app and rich content, Monj helps individuals gain lifelong skills while having fun with friends and family in the kitchen.

"We've hacked cooking school to make it more rewarding and engaging through a rich 'gameful' experience that is accessible to everyone -- even those with very limited skills starting out," says Monj Founder Adam DeVito. "Daily challenges are behaviorally based and spark insights while building healthier habits over time."

DeVito previously founded and ran schools for professional chefs, co-authored 11 books on healthy cooking for Time-Life Books, led the New Concept Development group at Kraft Foods, and co-founded the resilience gamification company SuperBetter Labs with Jane McGonigal, PhD. He started Monj in 2015 with a mission to get people to "cook up happiness" by redefining their relationship with food, cooking and health -- and to make cooking simple and fun again.

As part of the partnership, RedBrick's employer clients will gain preferred access to Monj as an integrated component of the RedBrick platform. The companies will also collaborate in developing unique food-centered content and behavioral support for those with prediabetes, diabetes and other chronic conditions.

"What attracted RedBrick to Monj is its unique approach to creating lasting change in people's lives by changing their relationship with food," explains Eric Zimmerman, RedBrick's chief marketing officer, and co-creator of its behavior design lab. "The Monj approach to cooking is amazingly compatible with RedBrick's Behavior Change Framework, which has been demonstrated to produce meaningful and sustained engagement in health. Monj makes healthy cooking simple, social and fun." According to DeVito, "Early engagement numbers have been extremely compelling and are validating our unique motivational approach."

RedBrick's unique behavior change approach, embodied in its RedBrick Journeys® collection of digital coaching experiences, has been demonstrated to produce both meaningful engagement and improved health in large-scale research. Monj has achieved significant user engagement across a wide range of populations in its work with California-based healthcare provider St. Joseph Health.
