Redis Labs Introduces Module Hub, the Redis Modules Marketplace

Enterprises Can Confidently and Quickly Deploy Certified Redis Modules While Reducing Risk and Costs

MOUNTAIN VIEW,CA--(Marketwired - May 10, 2016) - Redis Labs, home of Redis, today announced the beta of Module Hub, the Redis Modules Marketplace. With Module Hub, businesses and developers will gain access to certified, compliant and enterprise-ready Redis modules, minimizing resource overhead and achieving faster time-to-market.

Redis Modules expand Redis' capabilities to solve an infinite variety of use cases and data structures, with its characteristic high performance, resource efficiency and simplicity. Modules can be developed and used by anyone using Redis. Modules not only allow Redis to deliver all the capabilities of other databases but also to include new functionality, previously not available in other databases.

Modules reduce complexity by reducing the number of specialized databases required by enterprises. Simple to deploy, they provide the additional advantages of low operational overhead with fewer hardware resources needed to deliver advanced functionality at high performance. Modules allow quality applications to be delivered faster, eliminating the need for individual specialty databases.

"Redis already solves a range of data problems, but Redis Modules expand its applicability to every possible scenario that needs a database," said Yiftach Shoolman, CTO and co-founder of Redis Labs. "With Redis Labs' new Module Hub, businesses immediately gain the confidence to quickly deploy tested Redis modules and benefit from our extensive operational expertise."

"With the addition of the Redis Module Hub, Redis Labs continues to strengthen its offerings and expand its capabilities giving the Redis community access to features that previously required secondary databases," said James Curtis, Senior analyst at 451 Research. "This can pave the way for more innovation within the Redis community."

Module Hub offers Redis modules certified to work with both open source Redis and Redis Labs' enterprise products, Redis Cloud and Redis Labs Enterprise Cluster. Redis developers can now showcase extensions to Redis functionality including search, graph, document and columnar use cases, distribute their work, collect peer feedback and gain valuable insight for future development. With Redis Labs' deep operational expertise powering the certification process, organizations and developers alike can confidently reduce deployment risk and ensure compliance needs are met. Businesses gain a faster, more unified way of deploying applications and can focus internal resources on high-value activities while reducing overall spend.

An initial set of modules are currently available on the Redis Labs Modules marketplace before the formal launch slated for later in 2016. These include modules that deliver full text search, image processing, bloom-filters, element stream frequency tracking, secure password data store, Linux Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) for Redis, as well as extensions to command sets of existing data structures.
