Redline Brings WiMAX To Asia Pacific

HONG KONG, CHINA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2005) -

Company conducts live WiMAX demonstration with Intel and TANDBERG at 3G World Congress and Exhibition 2005 in Hong Kong

Redline Communications, a leading provider of standards-based broadband wireless equipment, and Intel Corporation will bring WiMAX to Hong Kong with a live over-the-air network demonstration at the 3G World Congress and Exhibition from November 16 to 18, 2005. The demonstration will also include a live WiMAX connection with TANDBERG, and will feature voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video conferencing and online gaming between the companies' booths.

Redline is offering visitors to the event the opportunity to trial its RedMAX products, which incorporate the Intel PRO/Wireless 5116 WiMAX modem silicon, and will be among the world's first WiMAX products deployed for large-scale telecommunications networks.

"We are very pleased to be working with Intel and TANDBERG in Hong Kong to bring this WiMAX demonstration to the 3G World Congress," said Keith Doucet, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Redline Communications. "Visitors from Asia Pacific will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the capabilities of WiMAX technologies to bring broadband wireless communications to more people and to support more advanced applications than other wireless technologies."

The demonstration will take place at the Redline booth in the WiMAX village and the Intel and TANDBERG booths at the event. The live over-the-air WiMAX link connecting the Redline and Intel booths will support online gaming and VoIP between the RedMAX base station and CPE (customer premise equipment). A wireless link will also be established between the Redline and TANDBERG booths and will feature voice and video conferencing applications.

"The WiMAX ecosystem is making positive headway to offer countries around the world the ability to connect the next billion people worldwide," said Lonnie McAlister, Product Line Manager, Wireless Networking Group of Intel Communications Group in Asia Pacific. "Intel is committed to working with governments and carriers to make this vision of high-speed, cost-effective wireless broadband access a reality. Our collaboration with Redline Communications here at the 3G World Congress and Exhibition is a pledge to further accelerate wireless broadband connectivity in Asia, and ultimately benefit how governments and businesses operate, how students learn and how people live."
