Redstar Gold Corp. Red Lake Update

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2006) - Redstar Gold Corp. (TSX VENTURE:RGC) (Redstar) is pleased to report that the diamond drill program announced on March 1, 2006 on the Newman Todd project in Red Lake, Ontario is currently under way. The program was delayed for 10 days due to the availability of drill rigs but Redstar anticipates that the entire 2000 metres planned in the first phase of the 2006 drill program will be completed within the next 18 days.

A total of five to eight holes are planned. A minimum of three holes are planned to continue to test the high grade gold mineralization intersected in the 2005 drill program (drill hole NT-031: 69.02 g/t gold over 1.0 metre within a wider zone of 24.89 g/t gold over 3.0 metres). This high grade zone is within a broad area of brecciation and alteration that can be traced for at least two kilometres along strike. A 40 metre wide zone of low grade gold mineralization (0.5 g/t gold) above the high grade intercept indicates a large mineralizing system. Two small step-out holes will be drilled to confirm the orientation of the high grade zone and test multiple, parallel, steeply dipping gold zones within the extensive breccia unit. Additional holes will be targeted based on the results from the first two holes.

One hole is planned to test mineralization below historical hole NT86-11 (57 metre length), which intersected 2.85 g/t gold over 7.09 metres including 8.92 g/t gold over 0.75 metres at a vertical depth of 40 metres. This historical intercept is located in a similar geological setting to the upper part of hole NT-031 in the Main Zone, where similar grades were encountered before intersecting the higher grade mineralization at depth. This hole is located approximately 700 metres northeast of Hole NT-031.

One hole is planned to test a favorable structural corridor where it intersects a folded ultramafic horizon. This hole will be located approximately 550 metres east of hole NT-031. This target represents a very similar geological setting to the main gold deposits in the Red Lake camp which have produced over 20 million ounces of gold. The area has returned anomalous gold values in both humus and bark sampling but no historic drilling has been completed.

The Newman Todd project is located approximately 20 kilometres west of the main Red Lake ore bodies in a relatively under explored area of the camp. Previous drilling, surface mapping and airborne geophysics have identified an alteration zone that extends for over five kilometres in the Newman Todd area. The presence of near surface high grade gold values, large alteration zones, northeast trending structures and folded ultramafic rocks highlight the similarities between the Newman Todd area and the main Red Lake deposits.
