Reed Smith Unveils My News in SharePoint Through Ozmosys

Reed Smith Announces the Successful Integration of Ozmosys Content Profiling and Personalization Within SharePoint. Now, Attorneys Can Access Their Important Content in Their Own My News

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 5, 2009) - Reed Smith, LLP unveils recently released improvements to their new Intranet, released in January '09. By integrating applications from both SharePoint and Ozmosys, Reed Smith developed a company Intranet that streamlines the firm's business and information needs in one place. With the objective of providing a central place for attorneys to access content, Reed Smith turned to its library for help. For almost a decade, the library has been using Ozmosys to assist with the management, consolidation, and distribution of all its high-value content sources. Seeing that attorney profiles were already set to deliver personalized content via email and/or portal, Reed Smith was able to take advantage of the work previously done by the library, and apply it to the firm's Intranet applications.

Recently, Ozmosys revealed its own API (Application Programming Interface). The application easily enables clients to interact with their content profiling and alerting platform by using simple web technologies.

The ability to manage one's information via the portal, with the added benefit of Ozmosys, considerably increases the KM and Library's productivity and efficiency. "By utilizing Ozmosys, we were able to significantly unburden our development team," said Tom Baldwin, Reed Smith's Chief Knowledge Officer.

The firm does recognize that Intranets, like many information-based solutions, still require manual intervention. According to Reed Smith, one reoccurring issue with Intranets is the time it takes to manage the RSS feeds on the Intranet. In addition, RSS feeds can cause frustration among attorneys, since many RSS feeds are unreliable. "Our library staff is continuously working with the attorneys to improve and satisfy their content needs," said Ronda Fisch, Reed Smith's Director of Research and Library Systems. "Being able to use a tool like Ozmosys truly helps relieve some pressure from our team, and allows us to focus on the librarians' expertise and efficiently deliver the content that the attorneys require." Ozmosys acts as the technical intermediary assisting clients with information overload and overlook. By consolidating high-value information from leading content providers and publishers, Ozmosys removes barriers found in typical distribution methods. Customers world-wide rely on Ozmosys to keep them up-to-date and competitive in today's information maze.
