Reeves College Introduces Health Care Aide Program to Two Campuses

Learn How You Can Help Those in Need in the Health Care Aide Program

CALGARY, AB and EDMONTON, AB--(Marketwired - October 27, 2014) - Becoming a healthcare professional just for easier for Albertans. Reeves College will be offering a new program for health care aides at both the Calgary City Centre and Edmonton City Centre campuses.

Health care aides (HCAs) are trained professionals who provide care and support to their clients and families. Working as part of a greater health care team, HCAs assist in everyday activities to ensure the comfort and safety of their clients. Such tasks range from bedside care, nutrition, maintaining progress charts and records of client health, infant care, housekeeping duties, and more. Although HCAs provide a more supportive role, the importance of their position should not be undermined.

Many clients who require this healthcare professional suffer from chronic conditions, mental health issues, or cognitive impairment such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and spinal injuries, to name a few. HCAs work closely with these clients and provide direct physical assistance as well as emotional and psychological support.

Graduates from Reeves College's 23-week Health Care Aide diploma program can look for opportunities in daycares, hospices, or as home healthcare workers and nursing aides.
