The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma Selects Send Word Now® to Deliver Critical Messages to Delivery Team Members During Natural Disasters

Send Word Now Partners With the Regional Food Bank, Providing a Critical Platform for Communication During Emergencies Throughout the State of Oklahoma

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 30, 2010) -  Send Word Now, the leading provider of on-demand alerting, response, and incident management services, announced today the use of its communications software by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The Regional Food Bank will use Send Word Now's communication platform to reach staff members and delivery truck drivers during emergencies such as ice storms, power outages, floods, or tornadoes.

The Regional Food Bank, which distributes food to 450 partner agencies in central and western Oklahoma, will notify staff members of office closings, shift changes, and early openings during any disruption, so that families and organizations in need are sent supplies as quickly as possible. The Regional Food Bank will also work with other disaster agencies to supply disaster relief in the form of cots, blankets, ready-to-heat-meals, and hygiene kits, throughout the state. The organization will use Send Word Now to coordinate deliveries and pre-position supplies along interstate highways before natural disasters strike the region.

"Send Word Now's alerting platform will drastically improve our crisis communication, making it both faster and easier," explained Steven Moran, Vice President of Operations. "The fact that we will be able to reach our staff members instantly and know that they have received our messages is extremely important." Before adopting Send Word Now, the Regional Food Bank relied on manual call trees, which were often too time-consuming. "This service will eliminate delays in communication, which will save staff time and fuel costs," he added. "It's going to be great, and I anticipate that we will find many more critical uses for Send Word Now as we move forward."

"We are extremely delighted to provide our services to The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma," said Tony Schmitz, President and CEO of Send Word Now. "For organizations such as the Regional Food Bank, which support the needs of so many families throughout Oklahoma, simple, timely, effective communication is paramount. Send Word Now facilitates just that."
