REGREEN Highlights Sustainable Spaces for New Best Practices Guidelines

Case Study Provides In-Depth Look at Home Performance Efficiency

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - Sustainable Spaces, a leading specialist in the growing field of home performance contracting and systems engineering, today announced that REGREEN, a best practices guidelines manual for green remodeling, has highlighted the company's approach to remediating home performance by including an in-depth home performance case study in their recent guidelines. REGREEN is a partnership between the American Society of Interior Designers' Foundation (ASID) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

"Green homes are healthier places to live, are better for the environment and save money," said Linda Sorrento, Director, Education & Resource Partnerships for the U.S. Green Building Council. "The REGREEN guidelines are an immediate and measurable way that individuals and homeowners can make a difference in the environment."

"Home performance evaluation and remediation is the science of evaluating the 'performance' of the entire home. We look at how each component -- energy, windows, appliances, heating and ventilation -- interrelates in a systemic way to measure energy efficiency, air quality and comfort," said Sustainable Spaces founder Matt Golden. "Through multiple steps, Sustainable Spaces works with homeowners to audit, measure, fix, re-measure and continuously monitor the home performance of our clients. By doing this we are able to provide a complete and reasonable solution that goes to the heart of poor home performance."

Sustainable Spaces works with homeowners to create a roadmap for improving their home's performance. Not everyone can make their home 100% green and zero energy in the first-pass, but by creating a comprehensive plan homeowners can begin the path towards sustainability and see real results on almost any budget.

"We did not want to waste money on hit-and-miss home repairs," said homeowner Kathy Manus. "Sustainable Spaces' professionals analyzed our home and designed a plan that prioritized solutions to meet our needs while increasing our home's overall energy efficiency. We now have a home that is warm and cozy."

Sustainable Spaces created a plan for this project based on multiple phases, focusing first on those items with the biggest impact and within the framework of the client's long-term goals. A phased approach fit the Manus' budget, while achieving measurable results. By focusing improvements on key areas, in addition to energy savings, Sustainable Spaces was able to get buy-in from the Manus' for more integrated solutions.
