Relationship Workshop Based on Best Selling Book Offered for the First Time in Victoria

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 8, 2013) - Victoria will host the first couples workshop entitled The 7 Principles to Making Marriage Work created by relationship expert Dr. John Gottman. The workshop will be offered in Victoria four times a year starting October 26th and 27th. Dr. Gottman created the workshop based on his 40 year research with thousands of couples on what makes marriages work. Couples will walk away from Dr. Gottman's workshop feeling reconnected, inspired and with the skills and tools to continue to improve and develop their relationship.

With high profile divorces in the news these days like that of Canuck's owner Francesco Aquilini, people are aware of the impact divorce can have mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. Resources and Skills Development Canada predicts that approximately 42% of marriages will end before their 13th anniversary. Although this rate has remained relatively steady over the past 20 years, it has not improved and does not take in to account the many common law relationships that are also ending in break up. There are specific techniques and strategies that couples can use to change the negative patterns in their relationship.

Dr. Gottman says that a good relationship looks like two people that are good friends and know how to deal with their conflicts in a respectful and positive way and repair their negative interactions and move forward. Couples can have the relationship they want, heal old wounds and rekindle the romance.
