Release of Wine Grape Crush Report Significantly Impacts Future of Wine Grape Industry, Expert Explains

NOVATO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 9, 2006 --

WHAT: The California Department of Food and Agriculture's
Preliminary Grape Crush report for 2005 is a critical
barometer for the wine and grape industry, containing
prices and tons of wine grapes crushed during the 2005
harvest. Figures reported are highly influential in setting
prices for grapes delivered during the 2006 harvest.
The Crush Report gives growers and wineries insight into
the inventory position for the California wine business
            as a whole.

WHEN: CDFA is scheduled to release the Grape Crush Report at
           Noon, Friday, February 10, 2006.

ANALYSIS: Numbers released tomorrow may reveal that the 2005 wine grape
crop was the biggest in California history. While good news
for wine lovers, the big numbers are less exciting for growers
and wineries struggling with excess supply for several years.
In fact, many wineries had nearly balanced inventories when
the 2005 harvest overwhelmed them with an unexpected volume
           of high quality grapes.
