Reminder: Canadian stars Get to the Point on Global Poverty:

New ad campaign leading up to G8 summit unveiled

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, MEDIA ADVISORY --(Marketwire - June 10, 2008) - Make Poverty History will unveil its "Get to the Point" campaign including new television and magazine ads featuring top Canadian celebrities at a press conference on June 10 at 7pm in Toronto at The Music Gallery.

The ads are intended to encourage Canadians to keep our government to the promise it made to the world and set a timetable to reach the UN aid target of 0.7% of our national economy. Organizers will also outline the campaign's action plan leading up to and during the upcoming G8 summit in Japan this July.

Make Poverty History is supported by a wide cross-section of charities, trade unions, faith groups, students, academics, literary, artistic and sports leaders. It is part of a more than 100 country international campaign called the Global Call to Action Against Poverty.

Internationally it is supported by hundreds of organizations and by well known individuals such as Desmond Tutu, Brad Pitt, Bono and Bob Geldof. In Canada, prominent Canadians including Stephen Lewis, Sarah McLachlan, Steve Nash, Mary Walsh and John Polanyi have all endorsed the campaign.

Make Poverty History campaigns for more and better aid, for trade justice, to cancel the debt, and to end child poverty in Canada.
