Reminder: Comedian Gerry Dee, Humble Howard among stars performing

at Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts to help local charity

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, City Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ON / MEDIA ADVISORY --(Marketwire - March 13, 2009) - Acclaimed comedian Gerry Dee is headlining an evening of comedy called Gerry Dee and Friends at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Friday, March 13, 2009, starting at 8pm. The evening is hosted by Humble Howard and includes other popular comics, including Steve Patterson and Irwin Barker (Rick Mercer Report). The event, priced at $40, will benefit Oakville charity Kerr Street Ministries. It is produced by SoChange, an Oakville organization dedicated to social activism.

Since winning the Toronto's Funniest New Comic award in 1999, Dee has toured internationally and appeared in film and television projects, including the CBC miniseries "Canada Russia '72." Named "Best Comic in Canada" at the 2008 Canadian Comedy Awards, Dee finished third in the fifth season of the NBC smash-hit stand-up comedy series "Last Comic Standing."

Humble Howard is the popular morning host at Toronto's 97.3 EZ Rock. Steve Patterson is an international headliner and one of Canada's most popular comics.

Five-time Gemini Award Nominee Irwin Barker is one of Canada's best loved comics. In 2007, he was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a rare type of terminal cancer. His first year of cancer treatment was the subject of a documentary called "That's My Time," which, in addition to Barker, featured a who's who cast of Canadian comics.

All profits from this show will go towards community projects organized by Kerr Street Ministries, an Oakville-based charitable organization that seeks to serve Oakville's most vulnerable citizens.

SoChange provides opportunities for capacity building and shared change around the world.
